Streamline your eLearning with ChatGPT

ChatGPT has taken the world by storm. You’ve probably heard countless opinions on the pros and cons of the software, as well as stories of how it’s been used by others. However, it can be tricky to figure out how exactly to make it work for you. In our series on AI, we’ve already discussed what ChatGPT is and a few ways in which it can help your course development. Still, there’s much more than what we could cover in one post. With the right know-how, this technology can become a neat tool to add to your arsenal. From writing copy to building quizzes, let’s take a look at how ChatGPT can streamline your eLearning tasks.

Write basic copy

Get started with ChatGPT Probably ChatGPT’s most popular feature is its ability to write for you. Much to the bane of many high school teachers, it’s very easy to get our AI friend to write copy for us. All you have to do is give it a prompt, and it will do the rest. However, if you’ve used this feature before, then you probably know how robotic and awkward those outputs can be. Thankfully, there’s a way to fix this. Simply give ChatGPT a prompt like you normally would, then afterward, tell it to rewrite that text in your own voice. An easy way to do this is by writing something like “Rewrite that text in the voice of ‘__________.’” As long as you include an excerpt of your own writing in those quotations, then the software will do a decent job of replicating your tone and style. You can use this feature to write all sorts of copy for your courses, such as messages, opening and closing statements, templates for remediation, etc.

Generate marketing materials

ChatGPT is excellent for helping with marketing tasks! In the same vein as above, you can use ChatGPT to streamline the generation of marketing materials. With the right prompt, it can help you draft your marketing blurbs. In addition, you could even provide it with a chunk of content and ask it to identify themes and keywords from that input. With that information, you can decide which terms are relevant to your marketing needs. From there, make use of this information for your email campaigns, prospecting scripts, or whatever else you plan on launching.

NOTE: ChatGPT is not a secure database. The information you upload to it does not remain confidential. So, unfortunately this means you should NOT upload proprietary information to the site.

Build quizzes

A great example of how creative you can get with ChatGPT is in the ability to build quizzes. And it’s really easy to do. The first step is to grab the content that you want to quiz your learners on. Once you have it, simply prompt ChatGPT to do exactly what you want. For example, say you wanted to build a five-question, multiple choice quiz. Your prompt should be, “Create five multiple choice questions from this content: With ChatGPT your process is bound to be drastically quicker than what you’ve probably been doing up until now‘__________________.’” You’re able to customize this prompt to create questions of different types, such as multiple select, fill-in-the-blank, and others. Of course, you can choose how many questions you want it to build you as well.

Once you’ve generated your questions, you can tell ChatGPT to “Identify the correct answers from the questions above.” You’ll still need to verify that the questions and answers are accurate, but your process is bound to be drastically quicker than what you’ve probably been doing up until now.

Takeaways

The rise in new technologies is always exciting and a little scary at the same time. ChatGPT isn’t a perfect piece of tech by any means. It still makes silly errors sometimes and is limited in what it can create (no visuals or diagrams of any sort). Nevertheless, it still has the potential to help almost anyone in their daily jobs. And eLearning duties are no different. By helping you write copy, generate marketing materials, and build quizzes, ChatGPT is an awesome tool to streamline your tasks.
