10-06 -- Cisco plays with MPC

Orlando, October 2006

The Cisco CCNA Exam may not seem like fun, but there are thousands of users who’ve had some fun getting ready to take it – thanks to Digitec’s Multiplayer Challenge game engine.

For the second year, Cisco Systems is using the Multiplayer Game Engine for CCNA test preparation. The game, available through Cisco’s web site, allows students to hang out in a ‘virtual lobby,’ use a built-in chat to challenge other players to a match, then compete real-time in a jeopardy-style quiz game. The database is driven by questions related to the CCNA exam, so while they compete, students are prepping for the exam. For bragging rights, (all too important to gamers) high-scores are posted on the web site, which is another incentive to play again.

Digitec also recently relaunched the Multiplayer Challenge game for the National Consumers League, who uses it as part of Lifesmarts, a nationwide ‘brain-bowl’ for high
school students.
